Civic education and Community dialogue 2 Pishta village Paghman

DSAWCO with cooperation of counterpart international have conducted a training session in Pishta village of Paghman district. 30 female including government officials and local residents have participated in the program.   Based on our agenda, Ms. Jamila Azizi, provided a brief information about the DSAWCO, and the training session. Following her, the participants have introduced themselves.

In the second session of the program, Ms. Arzo Jafari, the DSAWCO trainer has provided an overview of the government, legal procedures, parliament performance, judiciary system, human rights, election, civil society, and good governance for the participants. Participants also discussed about the topics, and their suggestions and recommendations has been noted.

  • The participants commented about the result of the workshop and declared that this is the first program conducted in our village in about 16 years. We have learned much about civil society and good governance.
  • Some of the participants believe that we did not know about the concept of democracy, and misunderstood it. Now we know what is democracy. Now we know that democracy is a path to the development.
  • Participants declared that they want to be supportive to the government.
  • They asked that more workshops should be conducted in different communities to make the deepen the public understanding about the human rights
  • One of the participants said: civil society has always done its advocacy role between public and government.

In the second day of program, we have organized a social dialogue. The participants have summarized the following problems in their communities:

  • Lack of electricity
  • Lack of professional handicrafts trainings,
  • Lack of proper place for garbagjes,
  • Lack of religious school (Madrasah) for female students,
  • Lack of literacy training centers,
  • Unemployment,
  • Lack of proper roads,

Based on the nature of their problems, we have summarized it into three main community problems:

  • lack of proper space for garbage,
  • lack of literacy training centers ,
  • lack of proper roads and streets,

Participants had more complaints about the performance of Kabul municipality in terms of its poor services. Finally we have made an advocacy group to follow up the problems with the related governmental and non-governmental organizations.
