Civic education and Community dialogue 21 Sare-e-Karez District 6 Kabul

The program has been conducted for 60 male, and female participant conducted in masjid e Wahdat in Sar e Kariz. Based on agenda, the program has been started. In the first session we have provided information about the history, democracy, executive power, judiciary power, election, human rights, civil society, and legislation power/legislation procedure. Participants have shared their views which are pointed out in the below:

  • Government and citizens both have problems in terms of considering the principles of democracy,
  • In election process, we did not vote as responsible citizens, rather, we have voted based on our preference of their language differences,
  • We have to enhance the level of literacy in individual and family level,
  • Government should perform independently, and not rely of other countries,
  • We all citizens should be responsible and active in society,

In the second day we have conducted the social dialogue through which the people have shared their problems which are listed below:

  • Lack of dust bins in the district 6, due to lack of dust bins, households throw dusts in Kabul river,
  • Lack of security in night time,
  • Lack of electricity,
  • Air pollution due to using coal in public bathrooms,
  • Lack of drinking water,
  • Increase of addicted people in pul e sokhta, which is near to Sar e Kariz,
  • Mismanagement of Ismaeil Balkhi High School,
  • Lack of canalization and mismanagement of septic well,
  • Sale of expired drugs in pharmacy shops,
  • Traffic due to narrow street

Based on the dialogue, top five problems has been pointed out:

  • Lack of bigger streets,
  • Increase of addicted people in pul e sokhta, which is near to Sar e Kariz,
  • Lack of drinking water,
  • Lack of dust bins in the district 6, due to lack of dust bins, households throw dusts in Kabul river,
  • Lack of security in night time,

Lack of drinking, has been recognized as the main problem.

Directorate of water management was recognized responsible to solve the problem. Participants have promised to help the directorate to solve the problem. In the end, a request letter have been prepared and an advocacy group have been formed to follow up the problem.
