Success Story: A School Without walls Is A house Without Roof

Kabul province is located in central zone of Afghanistan. Its center is Kabul City which is the capital of the country. Paghman District which is also known as district 14 is one of the districts of Kabul province. Most its residents are Sunni sect and Pashtun descend.

The main problem of the residents of this district was lack of school walls which was a big cause of concern for the people. To solve it, they were trying to find a proper solution for the problem.

According to the saying of most residents, especially Mr. Rafiullah who is the representative of the district: lack of wall created many problems in school. Young students during break time escape from school and some families warned us that they will not allow their daughters to come to school if walls of the school are not constructed.

Development & Support of Afghan Women & Children Organization (DSAWCO) with support of Counterpart International Organization based on a joint civil program held a 2day seminar under subject of “Civil Education & Social Discussion”. In these 2days seminar, a complete set of information was taught to the participants about human rights, human trafficking, democracy, civil society, and three pillars of government. 30 men and 30 women participants who were civil activists, members of local council, school teachers participated in every program. After holding the social discussion and identifying this issue as the prior issue of the area, in order to address the issue, an advocacy group was formed from the participants. They made a work plan with advocacy representative in advocacy meeting for eradicating this problem.

The advocacy representative of DSAWCO along with 6 members of the Advocacy group met the governor of Paghman district and discussed the identified issue. Mr. Musa Rahmati, Governor of Paghman, promised that he will find a proper way to solve the problem with influential people of the district and Ustad Sayyaf, and added that he will take all the necessary measures to build the school walls.
