Kabul province is located in central zone of Afghanistan. Its center is Kabul City which is the capital of the country. Sar Kariz is an area related to District 6 of Kabul City.

The main problem of this area was identified as street harassment of women which was considered the main issue of residents. Residents were concerned about the growth of this issue and were trying to find a proper solution for it.

According to the saying of some residents especially Ms. Noor Jahan Rasooli, who is a teacher in Salman Fars Educational Center, this issue caused most of the girls to refrain from going to school.

Development & Support of Afghan Women & Children Organization (DSAWCO) with support of Counterpart International Organization based on a joint civil program held a 2day seminar under subject of “Civil Education & Social Discussion”. In these 2days seminar, a complete set of information was taught to the participants about human rights, human trafficking, democracy, civil society, and three pillars of government. 30 men and 30 women participants who were civil activists, members of local council, school teachers participated in every program. After holding the social discussion and identifying this issue as the prior issue of the area, in order to address the issue, an advocacy group was formed from the participants. They made a work plan with advocacy representative in advocacy meeting for eradicating street harassment against women.

The advocacy representative of DSAWCO along with 6 members of the Advocacy group met the Head of District 6 Police Department and discussed the issue. Brigadier Hafizullah Alizada, Head of District 6 Police Department, promised that he will follow up this issue strictly and the residents of this district will never face this problem again.

As a result of police, advocacy group and resident cooperation the problem was completely eradicated in this district and there is no complaints filed regarding the issue.
