Kabul province is located in central zone of Afghanistan. Its center is Kabul City which is the capital of the country. Shakar Dara is one of the districts of Kabul province which most of its residents are Sunni sect and Tajik descend.

The main problem of the residents of this district is its bad quality roads which makes life hard for the residents and they were trying to find a proper solution for the problem.

Most of the residents especially Mr. Abdul Malik representative of Shakar Dara stated that the road causes serious problem for transportation of goods and people in all season but specifically in winter.

Development & Support of Afghan Women & Children Organization (DSAWCO) with support of Counterpart International Organization based on a joint civil program held a 2day seminar under subject of “Civil Education & Social Discussion”. In these 2days seminar, a complete set of information was taught to the participants about human rights, human trafficking, democracy, civil society, and three pillars of government. 30 men and 30 women participants who were civil activists, members of local council, school teachers participated in every program. After holding the social discussion and identifying this issue as the prior issue of the area, in order to address the issue, an advocacy group was formed from the participants. They made a work plan with advocacy representative in advocacy meeting for eradicating this problem.

The advocacy representative of DSAWCO along with 6 members of the Advocacy group met the Governor of the district and discussed the identified issue. Brigadier The Governor promised that he will share it with Mayor Kabul province and take constructive measures to solve it. The residents of this district will witness the end of the road problem.

As a result of advocacy group follow-up and cooperation of the Governor of the Shakar Dara, the documents of road construction was processed by Commission of Provision and Supply of Presidential Office and they were send for the signature to related authority.
